Still appears on the control panel list. I have run various malware removal tools which have found and deleted various things. Have deleted the creative media folder from programs and run ccleaner to check the registry.
How do I convince control panel that it is no longer there? Has it really gone? You can uninstall programs using CCleaner as well. I'm pretty sure it's a bug, the program is already gone. You can also try Revo Uninstaller. It has a powerful force uninstall tool.
I am trying to remove the Websteroid application which came with the installation of the "InstallConverter bundle uninstaller" program published by InstallConverter. When I go to the uninstall or change a program page and try to uninstall the program a window pops up indicating that when SearchProtect was installed other applications were also insalled.
I was able to remove all other applications except Websteroid. When I hit the Remove button it does not remove it. Hitting the Remove All button also does not remove it and only succeeds in eliminating this window. The InstallConverter bundle uninstaller program remains on the list of programs. When I highlight it and delete it, the Websteroid process just pops up again elsewhere on the list of running processes.
How can I get rid of this from the computer? You should try force uninstall it using Revo uninstaller or CCleaner. Or you can use an anti-malware program. Very often it's bundled with other programs and it could be difficult to uninstall it manually.
The program no longer showed in the list of program but still continued to be activated. I also have no files or extensions in my chrome or explorer browser as you suggest to look in. However, when I run a search of "websteroids" in my computer directories, the results return approx. Should I simply delete those? Thank you very much in advance for your help. Websteroids did not show up in my list of downloaded programs when I went to remove it but it was labeled as a program called: Updater - published by Creative Island Media, LLC and that one was also bringing up the websteroids app notifications. Hope this helps someone else that recieved websteroid notifications but didn't see the program in their program list.
Hi I couldn't find Websteroids until my anti-virus found it but didn't want to remove it for some strange reason. However, I knew the path to the file now. So in my case it was on disk C I openned the disk C and then typed in the address bar C: The surest way to remove this malware is to open your task manager and under detail right click on the Websteroid to open the file location.
Now with the file location window open while the detail window is open right click on websteroids and pick End Process Tree this will disingade the malwale long enough for you to delete the application at its file location.
